Tuluadda.com looks into Top 5 Rakshit Shetty films.

No one would believe that an engineer from Udupi, with no film connections at all, would make it big in Sandalwood one day. Starting with nothing, today he is an actor, director, producer, choreographer, lyricist and writer. Yes, I am sure, you would have guessed who it is. It is our beloved Shettru, Rakshit Shetty.

He began his career as a short filmmaker with films like Let’s Kill Gandhi and many unreleased ventures. He then entered feature films with Nam Areal Ond Dina and Thuglak both directed by Aravind Kaushik. Both the films were flopped. Rakshit Shetty had almost given up, when Simple Aagond Love Story happened. And then there was no looking back. Tuluadda.com looks into Top 5 Rakshit Shetty films.

5.Godhi Banna Sadharna Myakattu:  This 2016 film starred the legendary Ananth Nag in lead role. The film revolved around Alzheimer’s disease and was well received. After the last few films of Rakshit Shetty did not meet box office success as expected, this film got him break through. Even though Anant Nag bagged all accolades due to his tremendous acting, Rakshit Shetty was also praised for his performance as a career oriented son.

4. Avana Srimannarayana: This was Rakshit Shetty’s answer to pan India films being made in South India. The film was loved in Karnataka, but in other states, it could not garner the same appreciation. The film was Rakshit Shetty’s first big budget film. It was made at a cost of Rs 23 crores. First time Rakshit Shetty starred in such a big budget. Technically the film was at its best. No one from other industries would believe that the film was made in only 23 crores, as it had grand sets. But with Rakshit Shetty around, we know his calibre in getting best out in less budget. The film has given his platform as one of the top stars in Sandalwood, who can make crores. We will have to see how he uses this platform in future.

3.Simple Aagond Love Story: This was the film which made him where he is today. After failures in the beginning of his career, he acted in this Suni directorial film. The trailer of the film was released before starting the shooting. It met with an extremely positive response, which made the team believe that they have a good product. Upon release, the film won the box office battle as well and made Rakshit Shetty a household name.

2.Ulidavaru Kandanthe: This was his immediate next after Simple Aagond Love Story. Rakshit took a big risk by donning the director’s hat. He was getting many good offers as an actor. But he decided to go with his heart, and he directed Ulidavaru Kandanthe, which was unlike his previous film. The film did not do well at the box office upon release. However, it got cult status and is one of the most loved films today. Non-Kannadigas vouch for this film, which shows that box office is not the only criteria to say a film is good or bad. Rakshit also showed his directorial skill with this film and fans are waiting for his next directorial.

1. Kirik Party: If there is one film, which took Rakshit Shetty to become the brand which he is today, then it is Kirik Party. The 2016 college drama was a blockbuster. It reportedly collected more than 7 times of its budget!!! Rakshit Shetty also turned producer with this film and minted huge money. The success of this film made him produce many other films. The box office collections of this film made him confident about producing Avane Srimannaryana.

Rakshit Shetty has acted in 8 films as lead until now, in which 4 have been remade in other languages and one film has been dubbed in other languages. This shows his script selection intelligence. He has grown step by step and today has joined the big league of top actors in Sandalwood. His upcoming films in Sandalwood are 777 Charlie and Saptha Sagaradaache Ello. He is also producing films and web series. He is expected to direct his Punyakoti, which will reportedly be made in more than 100 crores budget next year. An official announcement regarding the same is awaited. The only complaint which fans have on him is that he is taking too much time. They want him on the big screen and feel he should at least act in 2 films a year. TuluAdda.com wishes all the best to Rakshit Shetty. He has been one of the reasons for Kannada films going to the next level in the last few years. We also hope that he starts to produce Tulu films as our film industry would grow with his guidance.
