Pruthvi Ambaar has become the next big thing in Sandalwood after Dia. The film which became a huge hit upon release in Amazon Prime has made our Tulu hero Pruthvi is talk of the town. He is busy signing new films. He is also acting with Shivarajkumar in a new film. In an exclusive chat with Tuluadda.com, Pruthvi speaks his heart out:
Dia Success
“I would like to give whole credit to director Ashok. He moulded all the actors. I had done a film called Barke in Tulu, which did not do well. I was part of serials. Ashok approached me in 2014 for Dia. We had workshops for this. I have been part of this film for so many years. Character of Adi has given me everything. We knew we had made a good film, but we never expected such a good response. The film was very realistic. So I was confused if people would accept a film without any action and comedy scenes. But I was proved wrong. Unfortunately when the film was picking up in theatres, due to lockdown, the film was removed. However it was compensated by Amazon Prime, where it was viewed by record number of people for a Kannada film,” he says.
Best Compliment
“There were so many compliments when I went to the theatre. I loved seeing the reaction of the audience. Everyone was in tears at the climax. People were reacting to my acting. I am a huge fan of Prahsnath Neel sir and he called me and complimented me for my performance. Puneeth Rajkumar sir also called and praised me.
Tulu film English
Pruthvi’s next film to hit screens in English, which is scheduled to release on March 26. When asked if he will continue to act in Tulu films after his new found stardom in Kannada, he says,” Tulu is my mother tongue. I will continue to act in Tulu films as well. However I will be more choosy. Language is never a barrier for me. My next release in Tulu is English, which will be out in March last week. Sooraj Shetty has done a wonderful job with this film and I am sure, it will be loved by all.”
Working with Shivanna
Pruthvi has signed his biggest film till date, which is titled as Shivappa. The film stars Shivarajkumar in the lead role and also has Dhananjaya in the pivotal role. Pruthvi has been a huge fan of Shivarajkumar and has watched his film Jogi many times in theatres. “I consider myself lucky to act with legendary actor Shivarajkumar in such an early stage of my career. He is an absolute energy house and I am enjoying working with him,” says Pruthvi.
Future projects
Along with Shivappa, Pruthvi is also playing leads in films like Life is Beautiful, For Regn, and Sugarless. He will also be part of an horror film, which has not been titled yet. “I want to act in different roles and each of my upcoming films has me acting in unique roles,” he says.
OTT
Pruthvi believes that OTT is a good platform to watch films. However he believes that theaters are the best and will always be there. “The feel of watching films in theaters cannot be matched with that while watching in OTT. Watching films in crowds gives the audience a different kick. Imagine watching a mass film on mobile alone. You will not enjoy it. Films are supposed to be celebrated. I also believe OTT has a good reach, as it reaches people in other parts of states as well as overseas,” he concludes.
